Transport Wheel Chair

0

Wheelchairs are not what they used to be. Instead of a heavy cumbersome wheelchair, you may now select a lightweight wheelchair or transport wheelchair that may fit your needs even better. In choosing a wheelchair, there are a great deal of distinct features to consider. First you may ask your medical doctor or physical therapist for any peculiar specifications they commend for your person circumstance or diagnosis. Armed with that data you may proceed to selecting what has been prescribed. Most of the time you will be left with a lot of further and added decisions.

Base your selection on what is best for the user but also do not forget the caregiver has to be competent to safely lift and maneuver the chair. The overall size or the width of the chair has to fit through the space you need it to go, so be sure to measure your narrowest doorway to recognise if you will fit through. The weight of the wheelchair is exceedingly primary to both the user and caregiver. Lifting a chair in and out of a car is a challenge even for the capable bodied.

Will the user be self propelling the wheelchair or will a associate be the pusher? If a associate will be pushing the chair you want to look for a transport wheelchair likewise called a associate wheelchair. These have four littler wheels rather of two front little wheels and two huge back wheels, the back ones applied by the person in the chair to self propel themselves. If that is not needed, a transport chair is a wise choice to save the extra weight of the two back wheels. Transport wheelchairs are lightweight and posing no difficulty than general wheelchairs to fold and carry. If the wheelchair is to be self propelled, choose a model that has big rear wheels. Many of these manual wheelchairs are ergonomically designed and much more lightweight than models from years ago. With sleek progressed styling these lightweight wheelchairs are both comfortable and stylish. The Karman Wheelchairs are a nice example of modern lightweight wheelchair design that may be self propelled and customized with a assortment of seat sizes, armrests, leg rests, colors and other desired options.

The size of the user is crucial to recognise when narrowing down your choices. Look for a heavy responsibility model, also called a bariatric wheelchair for a user weighing close to or over 300 pounds. These models have reinforced construction and roomier seating to accommodate the larger size individuals. If the user is little or petite, a junior or pediatric size may be appropriate.

Measuring for the rectify size transport wheelchair or lightweight wheelchair requires determining the seat width and depth necessitated for the individual. Measure width by putting a book on each side of the users hips while they are seated. Measure in among the books for the basic seat width they will need. Add another inch or two to accommodate heavy costume and for a roomier fit. For the seat depth, measure while seated, from the back of the user’s buttocks to the back of their knees. If the person will be propelling the wheelchair with their feet, measure, while seated, from the back of the knee to the floor. Once you have these measurements you may exploration and review the respective models of lightweight and transport wheelchairs that are available at http://www.WendysWalkers.com where you may buy from a big selection of economy to high end mobility merchandise with free shipping and at wholesale prices to the public.

4Easy to tote, but muscles a plus
By C.S.
Compared to a regular wheelchair with the big tires, this one is a lot easier to get in and out of your car as well as cruising through small areas a regular one has trouble with. A regular wheelchair is easier to push because of the big wheels, but this chair is still fairly easy to push. Uphill and all-terrain driving requires some muscle power that may limit some weaker “pushers” but overall its not too bad. I definitely appreciate the breaking mechanism on this little chair too — downhill is not as scary and speed can be maintained. Also, this chair can pop wheelies over doorstops, gaps and curbs a bit easier than some of the bigger chairs, and the little foot pegs on the back help with that. I would have liked the pocket to be wider on the back, since the size really limits what you can stuff in there. Don’t plan on packing a sandwich or a piece of fruit, more like some crackers and a fruit roll-up or other small items. However, the price is great, since it’s a lot cheaper than renting a wheelchair for only 2 months. Too bad they didn’t come out with a chair with a 14″ tire, since that might help with some of the pushing effort you exert with chairs with smaller tires. Overall, I think we made a good choice with this chair.

5Ultra light wheelchair
By P. Cook
This is a beautiful, lighweight wheelchair. It stated good for weight of up to 300 pounds. My husband is about 270 and it was a little tight. This is a great chair but did not work for us because my husband’s leg needed to be extended and the footrests did not extend. THis is not a negative for the chair, but just did not work for us. It arrived SUPERFAST. I would recommend it for anyone who was a little less than 250 pounds and did not need to elevate their leg.

5Great buy
By Joan
I received this chair only two days after ordering!! It is wonderful, lightweight, easy to fold and collapse and also open up for use.Fits easily into side sliding door of our Toyota Sienna. I have some difficulty applying the brakes but feel when newness wears off they will be a little easier to use. Same product is much more expensive in local med supply store. Wonderful purchase.
